Art Therapy

In-person appointments in Yardley, PA
At Milestone Counseling and Wellness, we provide art therapy services to help individuals express emotions that are hard to verbalize. Art therapy uses art materials during sessions with either structured prompts or the freedom to create. The focus remains on the process of creating art rather than the final product.
This approach helps individuals build coping skills that they can apply outside of therapy. Art therapy benefits everyone, even those who are not naturally inclined toward art. It is particularly effective for those facing life challenges like trauma, divorce, or loss. By combining art making with talk therapy, clients can express and process their experiences both verbally and non-verbally. This dual approach fosters healing and emotional growth.
Art therapists receive graduate-level training in counseling psychology, art materials, and human development. They guide clients in using art to communicate non-verbally, which enhances emotional processing. This form of therapy equips clients with tools to incorporate art into their emotional healing both in and outside of sessions.

Brenna Kelley, MS ATR-P

Hi, I’m Brenna! I am a master’s level clinician and a certified provisional Art Therapist (ATR-P). I specialize in working with children aged 4–12 and adolescents aged 13–18, though I work with individuals of various ages. With experience treating a range of diagnoses, I’ve worked with conditions such as schizophrenia and autism spectrum disorder. Additionally, I assist individuals dealing with grief, loss, trauma, anxiety, and depression. In my previous role in behavioral health, I gained valuable experience using tools like token boards, positive and negative reinforcements, and ABC data. These tools are helpful in identifying behavior patterns and uncovering their root causes, which leads to the development of effective family solutions. My focus is on teaching families skills that improve home life. The goal is to achieve the best possible outcomes from the therapeutic process.
